Did they ever do an update for the PC game Spore?

I originally bought the game and loved it. I did not buy the expansion. I'm NOT talking about character model updates and different creature updates etc.. I'm talking about this: When I got to the stage where you could travel different planets I became annoyed with the game because I could not travel that much due to my planets being under attack so often. My question is, did they ever fix that particular part in the game where you come under attack way too often? I could no longer expand my empire due to this problem in the game.Did they ever do an update for the PC game Spore?
They have released several patches already. If you go here http://www.spore.com/patch it lists all the patches they've released so far. You can download each one by one. Fair warning tho, I didn't know this until after, if you instal patch 1.02 and then 1.05, you can install 1.03 (for example) You need to install all of them in order.
