Do you need to buy regular spore before playing the galactic version?

some expansion packs require this. I was wondering if you had to with spore.Do you need to buy regular spore before playing the galactic version?
The galactic edition isn't an expansion. It's actually the same game as regular Spore except for $30 more, you get a bunch of DVDs and posters with regards to the behind-the-scenes making of Spore. The galactic edition is more of a collector's edition version of the game, not an expansion. You can find more information below.
